The Prospect List supplies organised business information for legitimate company research, market mapping, supplier discovery, account planning, and responsible business development. This policy explains the standards customers must follow when using a database, company profile, or custom research file.
2. Customer responsibility
The customer decides how supplied information is used and is responsible for confirming that the intended activity is lawful. Requirements differ by country, recipient, communication method, industry, and the type of data involved. Customers should obtain professional advice when their obligations are unclear.
3. Permitted examples
- Researching industries, territories, competitors, suppliers, and potential business partners.
- Preparing account-based marketing or sales plans using relevant company criteria.
- Verifying public company facts before legitimate commercial engagement.
- Segmenting organisations by market, location, category, or other supplied business fields.
- Conducting internal analysis, market sizing, or procurement research.
4. Outreach requirements
Before sending marketing or sales communications, determine which privacy, anti-spam, telemarketing, and electronic-communications rules apply. Use a relevant business purpose, identify the sender accurately, avoid misleading claims, honour valid opt-out requests, maintain appropriate suppression records, and stop contacting a recipient when required.
5. Prohibited uses
- Unlawful spam, harassment, threats, stalking, or repeated unwanted contact.
- Fraud, phishing, impersonation, identity theft, credential theft, or deceptive conduct.
- Discrimination or decisions that unlawfully affect employment, housing, credit, insurance, education, or other protected interests.
- Attempts to access private accounts, systems, or information without permission.
- Publishing personal contact details in a way that creates a foreseeable safety or privacy risk.
- Reselling or redistributing a delivered file as a competing database product without written permission.
- Using information in violation of law, contract, intellectual-property rights, or a valid suppression request.
6. Verification and data hygiene
Business details can become outdated. Verify important information before relying on it, remove records that are no longer relevant, correct known errors, protect files from unauthorised access, and restrict internal access to people who need the information for an approved purpose.
7. Email and telephone information
The presence of an email address or telephone number in a business record does not automatically grant permission for every type of communication. Consider the source, context, recipient role, local law, consent requirements, and any opt-out or do-not-call status before contacting a person or organisation.
